Driven by a Desire to Help Others

We are so glad to have Mark Barrera as an intern on the RedStone team this summer. A construction engineering major at Pittsburg State University, Mark is currently assisting our team on the Cherokee Casino in Grove, Okla.

Mark says that one of the things that excites him about working on the Cherokee Casino is the impact it will have on the community.

“Not only are there job opportunities while the construction of a building is in the process, but even after the project is completed, there are even more job opportunities especially when a casino is being built,” said Mark. “There can be 200-500 job opportunities or possibly more. Plus the revenue from a casino will be able to help the Native American people with education, health care, and housing.”

While Mark is excited to learn the ropes on the casino job site, his ultimate goal is civil engineering.

“I believe there are around 61,000 bridges that are considered to be ‘structurally deficient’ in the U.S. alone. I would like to be a part of helping to make highways and bridges more safe for people to travel across.”

Mark says that the people of RedStone and their passion for operational excellence and continual growth led him to choosing RedStone for his internship.

“I feel that working with people that are so passionate, only makes the people around them want to do better in all aspects of life.”

RedStone has internship opportunities throughout the year. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please visit our Career page.
